Yesterday's post generated pretty much what I expected.

Michael and Courtney: if I mean so little to you, I will be happy to no longer be a part of this family. It certainly makes my life easier as I have never seen a bigger bunch of needy whiners in my life. I have no problem what-so-ever with skipping the family reunion, church, and all the rest of the time-wasters in my life.

And Michael, for you to call me an arrogant, know-it-all jerk just makes me laugh out loud, coming from an arrogant, know-nothing jerk.

Ric,
I hope you are not lumping me into a bad group. I look at you as a friend, and this does not change that. It is hard to see someone go through a, for lack of a better phrase, "crisis of faith". I am not going to be one to put you down or treat you poorly for what you think. As we already know it is too easy to make a knee-jerk reaction to something and when we do that nobody wins.

I have been praying for you and this situation off and on this morning. I checked the blog before I went to work at 4:00 and saw some of the comments that had been made, and I am sure that even though you say you don't care it has to hurt. That is why I wanted to post again and let you know that I am not taking that road.

I have to echo what Lindsey said about where I will make my stand though. I think there are somethings we are just not supposed to be able to wrap our heads around. We do not possess the mental capacity to understand God and how He works. Science can say all it wants to about some things, but when it comes down to it, it is nothing but man. I know God used men to do His writing, but the Bible is God's Word, and I have to stick with it.

I know you are a smart guy, and I know that you have read much more on the topic than I have. I guess I am wondering though, during the studying you did were you holding the books up the the Bible to see if they measured up to it, or was it the other way around? I say it not as a jab or a slight, just as an honest question. Too often we filter things through the wrong sources.

Well, I'm sure that much more will be said on this topic over the next couple of days. I will keep watching and making any comments that I deem necessary. Just know this one thing, I do not wish you any ill-will or harbor any enmity against you. I am concerned and would like to see you change your mind on this stuff.

Man, I don't think you could have caused any more of a blow-up if you had just announced you were gay or something! Well, since I have never written this much on my own blog I guess I will sign off.

The only thing I would like to say in closing is that if you feel this strongly against what Scott Jex may or may not say in Sunday School, then please don't come to hear it. There is no sense in adding fuel to this fire.

Praying for you,
Tom

Courtney,
I have no beef with you at all. If that is the way you took it then please accept my apology. I agree that things need to be aired out. I do not feel I was stepping into family business. Ric is a friend of mine and a member of my church. I just wanted to let your uncle know that a friend of his cared enough to check on him. In no way am I discounting your feelings in this. Ric has opened a big box here and has a lot ahead of him for the next little bit. Please do not take my concern for him as malice toward you. My prayers are with your entire family right now. again, I am sorry if I offended you, none was intended.

And more love and support from my family.

Michael, right back at you.

Teri (my former sister) if you don't like the way I treat your children then keep them the hell off my blog.
