If the peak oil folks are correct, it's the grid that will do the falling. Either way, the answer is to increase self-sufficiency; look into organic gardening with non-hybridized plants, coppicing, solar hot water; pay down debt and generally reduce "needs" in every way possible (most "needs" in the US aren't).
